Jonathan hails from Montreal, Quebec. Since his very first lesson over a decade ago, he fell in love with swing dancing and vernacular jazz. Although he grew up listening to punk rock, the swung rhythms of Basie, Goodman, Webb, Ellington, Young and Webster grew on him, so much that it soon became a (healthy) obsession.
He quickly started traveling across Canada and the United States, taking classes at first, then competing and performing at events such as Camp Jitterbug, ULHS, ILHC, the Canadian Swing Championships and, obviously, the Boston Tea Party, where he competed for the very first time in 2010. He also had the opportunity to perform at the Frankie100 event in New York City, as an active member of the Northern Lights Dance Crew.
Jonathan has DJ’d locally in both Montreal and Boston for many events. We welcome him back to the BTP this year.
